Plays Live
The cover photograph is of the fully made-up 'monkeyman' Gabriel. “This photo was shot in December 1982 at the Universal Amphitheatre, the Los Angeles leg of Peter’s 'Security' Tour. During the performance of 'Lay Your Hands On Me' Peter would look into the crowd in a very intense way before throwing himself onto the raised hands of the audience. That was also a rare moment to get the blue of his eyes on camera. And I got it!
A couple of months later Peter came to my house in LA as I had prepared a slide show for him to choose photos for his upcoming Live album. When this photo came up we all liked it as the best.
I was knocked out when I saw the final result on 'Plays Live' The original photo was a 35 mm of his face and arms, but the image that graced the front cover was a courageous tight crop of his face, hence the grainy effect” Armando Gallo.
